Founding

IFP Automation was originally established as Indiana Fluid Power in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1976, distributing hydraulic and pneumatic components.

Growth through Engineering Focus

IFP’s growth was driven by a founding principle: strong engineering capabilities are essential for serving our customers.

IFP Manufacturing Launched

IFP launches our Value Add Services group, which includes designing and manufacturing custom systems and assemblies using products from key partner manufacturers. This service significantly reduces the impact of labor on our customers.

Electrical & Controls Solutions Added

Many of IFP Automation’s customers experienced a lack of engineering-focused providers of electronic control systems and accessory products. IFP formally introduced these products to meet the needs of mobile OEMs, end users, and systems integrators.

Name Changed to IFP Automation

As our customer base expanded to include more electrical automation, alongside a continued focus on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and to accommodate non-Indiana-based customers, we changed our name to better reflect the company’s expanded focus.

Indianapolis Engineering Technology Office

IFP expands its footprint to better meet our customers’ increasing engineering development and systems integration needs for control systems and fluid power products.

IFP Acquires MIDpro Fluid Power & Automation

This acquisition gives IFP additional pneumatic and automation products, adds to our technical knowledge, and provides a local inventory based in central Indiana (Brownsburg) to support our customers.

IFP Adds UL 508A Electrical Panel Design & Build Services

We established our electrical panel design-and-build group to better serve our customers and expand our range of electrical controls offerings. We added skilled panel designers, project managers, and technicians to ensure that we remain a provider of quality products with a focus on engineering.

IFP Automation Headquarters Relocated

IFP consolidated Indianapolis and Brownsburg operations into a larger Fishers, Indiana headquarters with an expanded warehouse. This location houses accounting, customer service, and engineering, while Fort Wayne remains our manufacturing hub for hydraulic systems, control panels, and assemblies.

IFP Fort Wayne Office Moves to a New Location

A new Fort Wayne manufacturing location opened in late 2024 and increased our capabilities to support our customers in mechanical systems and electrical control panels, as well as our local customers through inventory and a larger Parker Store retail location with expanded offerings.
